Jesse Aguirre

This month we wanted to highlight the pieces of a very talented artist who works in a variety of mediums. Jesse Aguirre explains that he likes to focus on “the real world,” and highlight those closest to him and the places he’s been.

Mr. Aguirre writes about his life in the 1970s, a graduate of Stanford and then Harvard Law, and an accomplished businessman and traveller – we think it’s easy to see the impact of his personal experiences and cultural influences in his work. Mr. Aguirre speaks of aspects of his life as a “pilgrimage,” stating his experiences travelling and seeing the world was part of an “ongoing exploration” of his “Latin self.”

Walker Foods does love to shine a light on artists who infuse a sense of culture into their work, and while Mr. Aguirre has definitely achieved that, what we really love about these pieces is the sense of community one feels when admiring them.

Mr. Aguirre has had shows in many cities across the States, including Austin, San Francisco, Sacramento, Oakland, and Baltimore. Take a look at his work and let us know your thoughts!
